I have a classroom full or students who love diving into a good book, but with all my students being on different levels of reading it can get a bit chaotic. My students love to read out loud, but it causes distractions with my other more independent readers. The whisper phone supports the acquisition of phonemic awareness by allowing the student to hear her own voice while reading. Students are also able to focus on blending, proper sound use, and fluency in the text. Whisper phones help improve both the student's focus and attention in both small or whole group. With these reading tools my students will also be forced to whisper which will immediately remove the stress my students feel when trying to read. I believe by adding these whisper phones into my daily routine, my students will gain fluency and confidence in their reading.
