It is imperative that students and their teacher build caring relationships that will help foster a positive and safe classroom community, especially during remote learning. The books selected will benefit ALL students. They will foster the love and joy of reading, learn positive ways to cope with emotions which will build their ability to self-regulate, and cultivate a positive sense of self because the books are multicultural. I will first use each book as a mentor text to introduce a topic, then integrate phonics, writing and science lessons from home.
