Our small school district is in a rural area that is comprised of students from area small towns. Many of our students come from low-income households with our county ranking as one of the poorest counties in the state. This does not hamper our students' desire for learning. Many students living in stressful situations, come to school for an escape from the worry of adult pressures. This is the second year our school district has had Family & Consumer Education programs for grades 7-12 after a long absence of this department and there is a great need for students to learn basic living skills to become productive citizens and break the cycle of poverty-stricken adults. The Family & Consumer Education program is a great asset to this cause.
