With this weighted blanket this will not only calm my students down when there is sensory overload within the room, but it will also keep my students safe. With ASD comes some very unpredictable behaviors from students. With this sensory blanket, when a student is exhibiting a trigger behavior we can use this blanket right away to calm them down so they can get right back to work. Often times with sensory overload, without the right soothing techniques it could take a long time to calm down from the over stimulation which affects work time. Also with short staff members this also takes time away from other students in the classroom trying to put pressure on these students when they are having sensory overload. This weighted blanket gives my students a chance to learn to self soothe and become more independent.
