Our students bring rich and varied linguistic and cultural assets to this school everyday. They each have beautiful, touching, and engaging melodies about their lives, about their dreams, and about their goals to share with others. This project is to help these students find a way to bring their melodies together to create a rich harmony of these languages and cultures with ukuleles! Music is a universal language and can bridge differences and unite peoples together. Through fun and pleasant interactions with students who may not have similar cultural and linguistic assets, our students will have the great benefit of learning about and with others through music. Through volunteer lunchtime sessions, students supported by four teachers, will learn and share music with each other. These students have already been invited to participate in the school-wide spring concert and in the outstanding school/community multi-culture events celebration in May.
