Students may want to pursue a career in the arts. Having an exposure to many forms of 3D art only enhances their portfolio. Not only is it fun to do in the classroom but I have had many former students brag about how their family members enjoy the coiling technique. Wouldn't you rather have them making baskets than being on their phones? It's a great hobby. The coiling method is contagious. We need 3 classroom packs of Baskets and Things. They will find the process therapeutic and have a final product to bring home and keep for years to come. The coiling method can lead to many other materials besides yarn, like old VHS tapes to paper.
