My K/1 students start their day by having to organize their belongings. How they do this sets the stage for their whole day of learning. Right now they arrive to one high hook on the hallway wall outside our classroom. They have to hang their back pack and coat (snow pants too in winter), organize their lunch box, change their shoes, get their home folder out, etc. and start their day. A wooden coat closet would give my learners a way of putting their belongings away easily (not all over the hallway) and walk into the classroom ready to learn.
