Reading is an important part of education and student learning. In second grade, students are building their fluency and comprehension. The goal is for students to move from learning to read to reading to learn. Oklahoma has adopted new state standards that put an emphasis on students reading books that are above their grade level and skill in hopes of their reading comprehension and fluency improving. I need more books at a higher level to meet this standard and also to challenge my students. My goal is for each student to have the same book so they can all follow along and track the words as they are being read.
