Using Chromebooks is the best way for students to collaborate, demonstrate, articulate and evaluate mathematics. As a result of donations to my classroom, my students will be able to work on challenging math tasks collaboratively using Chromebooks. By working collaboratively they will learn to communicate mathematical ideas, clarify thinking, and defend and justify answers. These Chromebooks will also be used as a fast and efficient tool to gather data on students’ mastery of concepts in order to drive my future instruction and offer interventions to struggling students. Additionally, students will have access to countless interactive math games, apps, and tutorials to support classroom learning, offer practice of curriculum objectives, and improve academic achievement. Not only will Chromebooks for my math students directly support building knowledge, but they will also improve student attitudes about math. Using technology leads to increased student engagement and motivation. Five Chromebooks in my classroom will make a world of difference in preparing my students for end of year testing, more complex math classes, becoming college graduates, and future careers.
