My students are dedicated and hard-working, but often need direction. These students have experienced a limited amount of resources throughout their educational experience, yet amaze me with their resilience and ability to create something out of nothing. Most of them live in poverty and have spent their entire educational career in an area with extremely limited resources. The textbooks, if we can get them are over ten years old and are often worn to the point of uselessness, yet student creativity and intelligence is bountiful. Their tenacity in working with these limited resources is an inspiration to me. They deserve the access to materials and experiences of surrounding schools that have so many more resources. In my experience, I see what they are capable of and know with adequate resources they could accomplish so much more.
