I am going to be teaching first grade at Powell Academy for Success this year. Although it will be a very different position than teaching math, science, and robotics in middle school, I am looking forward to returning to elementary school very much. I am excited about the year ahead and look forward to meeting my students. The excited faces and bright futures are amazing to think of. It will be a year filled with learning to read and write while doing math, science, and social studies activities in a meaningful way. The school is 92.1% socioeconomically disadvantaged, with almost half of the students classified as English language learners. I cannot wait to embark on this new adventure. My current classroom picture is one of my students last year working in our robotics lab.
