Activities where small children can touch and feel will enhance the fun-filled classroom I strive to create for my 4-year-olds. My students will love to play and learn using materials they can touch and feel. These materials will be perfect during my center time which allows students to develop independence and learning through play. Center time is my children's favorite time of the day! The students develop qualities that we all need in life such as responsibility, creativity, problem solving and social skills. The materials I have chosen are perfect for my low-income English as a second language students. Many of them do not have materials to play with at home. With these new center materials, my students will be able to choose activities according to their individual interests. The best way for children at this age to learn and create is through play. My students will be ready for Kindergarten with the skills they acquired using these materials. I have confidence that they will expand their learning at this important age for brain development.
