Gone are the days of using text books as the main teaching tool. The teachers at my school have created units of study for all of the core subject areas we teach. Each unit requires students to engage with a variety of resources that help them master the standards being taught. Many of these resources can be found online and are best utilized when they can be shared as a whole group initially using a projector. This shared learning with resources that are interactive and engaging allows for discourse that enriches the students understanding. A projector will become the centerpiece of technology in my classroom; impacting each lesson with the endless opportunities to captivate students attention. Using a projector during instruction will allow me to face my students and interact with them more naturally. This will also help keep them focused and on task. I will be able to model the skills and strategies I am teaching to all my students in a way that is clear for everyone in the classroom, not just those near me. The ability to prepare notes, Power points, and videos on a specific topic and share them with the class will save time and allow for students who have trouble keeping up to access the information at any time. One of the most impactful uses I envision for my students is the ability for peer modeling. Students often learn best from each other, and having the access to technology that allows them to model their thinking and share it with others will increase the student discourse in my classroom. The possibilities are endless for how this projector can enhance my instruction!
