With AVID strategies, students learn a wide variety of note-making procedures to help with various rhetorical situations. Such strategies involve materials such as double sided nano tape, Expo markers, permanent markers, scissors, glue sticks, Sharpies, sticky notes, Post-It Super sticky notes, Mr. Pen protractors, colored pencils, highlighters, and a cable adaptor for connecting to our projector. Strategies these will help with include: chunking texts, summarizing, creating Cornell Notes, color-coding, marking patterns and creating One-Pagers, responses in which students create visual representations of arguments, strategies, and rhetorical devices. The classroom supplies enhance pen-and-paper responses, helping students organize internalize and engage with challenging reading and writing tasks.
