My class is composed of twenty-four eager, inquisitive fourth-grade learners! I've taught fourth grade for over eleven years at our public school. Our school is located in rural Alabama. We have a high population of low socio-economic students. Many of the students have few, if any, real world experiences outside of their daily routines. Sadly, many also live in single-parent families, or with other relatives. Our state is also in the third year of pro-ration. We've had severe cut-backs in funding, including supply supplements for teachers.
