My students learn in many different ways. I have to plan everyday for a whole group, small group, and independent work especially during reader's and writer's workshop. Everyday students have a reader's and writer's workshop lesson. I have found that students learn best during these lessons on the carpet because of their close distance to me. However, it is very difficult to teach a lesson without a classroom easel. Majority of my whiteboard is covered by my projector screen, so I do not have room to write on it. Unfortunately, the screen is nailed to the wall, so I cannot even lift it up. The easel will make it easier to create lessons on chart paper with my students and to display for students to use as a visual learning tool. Having the space to store books, expo markers, and chart paper in an organized area will be nice and make it easy for me to have things right at hand. The easel will be nice to move around in my classroom when I am working in small groups to use the magnetic board, dry erase board, and and place to display chart paper. The easel will be mobile so I can move it when I am working in small groups.It will be a good visual tool for students to see anchor charts we create as a class. The magnetic board and dry erase board will be nice to use during guided reading and my daily morning messages.
