These materials will provide a stepping stone for the students in order to apply their knowledge and interact in a variety of ways, from hands on applications of physics using rockets onto interactive virtual labs using Smart board technology. My principles of Technology class is primarily project based. Some of my students do not do well in a completely theoretical setting (equations, theorems, formulas) and learn best by using their knowledge for something practical and feasible. So far, we have explored very cost efficient options for some projects including a "greener" way to fill potholes using a modified cornstarch/water substance. We hope to continue some other ecologically friendly undertakings such as rebuilding and maintaining the town's waterwheel and perhaps a greenhouse. For the time being, this is what we hope to achieve for the student's interests. Rocketry is a wonderful encounter for students to apply physics principles such as Newton's laws and conservation of energy. We hope to springboard from these model rockets to constructing our own with a variety of applications. Some that the students are interested in are weather probes, effects of extreme acceleration on objects, and air resistance/drag.
