I feel my career as a special education teacher began right after my first birthday, when my younger sister with Down syndrome was born. I set up pretend classrooms and played "school" with her throughout our childhood, so I always knew this is what I wanted to do with my life. I have been teaching since 1989, with the exception of the 11 years I stayed home with my own young children. My favorite part of teaching resource is finding new, innovative ways to teach crucial concepts to children who do not learn through traditional methods.
