My students face challenges on a daily basis. Generally speaking, my students are low-income, minorities, who may be the first to graduate high school in their family or are first generation Americans. For most of my students, English is not their first language. Even though some may label their school as students that are a "challenging demographic," I believe they represent the hope, future, and the potential of the "American dream." These students value education, want to realize their potential, and are simply waiting for teachers to provide the tools necessary to succeed. My students rise to the high expectations that I set before them. They are scholars! My students are eager to learn and incredibly appreciative of the opportunities that are before them because they realize that knowledge is power.
