Being able to show examples, write out details, draw diagrams, correct mistakes, and send encouraging messages are essential for my students' learning. Whether it is demonstrating the steps for a math problem, correcting a misspelled word, underlining a vocabulary word, highlighting the main idea in a reading passage, or simply drawing a smiley face, I am most effective showing (rather than telling) a concept. My students will be able to see my instructions and my responses to their questions in real-time! The visual interaction provided by this technology combined with video conferencing will help bridge the gap from the loss of in-person teaching. Students will hear and see my directions much as if in a live classroom. I will be able to help my disadvantaged students to build their math, reading, and writing skills while encouraging them from a distance.
