Chemistry is a subject where students need to understand events that are too small to see - even with a microscope! Our students need to create models and charts, as well as experience lab reactions they can see, in order to create visuals so we can help all learners access our chemistry curriculum. Hands-on laboratory activities and demonstrations help our students make connections between concepts and real-world events. These supplies will allow us to provide our students many more opportunities to work with the content in more engaging ways. The stoichiometry and physical and chemical changes labs will help students understand concepts in chapters that are historically the most difficult. We will use the indicators of different molecules to show how our discussions of chemical compounds connect to actual substances that we encounter every day! I want to give our students more chances to feel like actual young scientists. Our school has very limited lab supplies and capabilities, and our students often comment on our lack of nice equipment or high-level labs. Giving these supplies to our students will raise their confidence and encourage their future interest in science.
