These materials will provide the opportunity for my students to push the boundaries of presentation styles and become comfortable with using technology for a productive purpose. Too often technology can be seen as an isolated experience, despite all the social media avenues. As a society, we tend to use technology as a means of consumption in gathering information. I would like to help enhance my students' perspectives by using technology as an avenue of production. With these materials, students will become accustomed to the public nature of technology by collaborating with their peers on projects, creating presentations for the class, and being an audience to their peers. The iPads and Apple TV connections will be used in the classroom daily. Students will create presentations, search for information, and interact with apps to enhance their learning. The Apple TV will allow students to wirelessly share information with the class and practice proper presentation skills. While many kids these days are extremely comfortable with using iPads and other devices for social purposes, I feel as though they need to be exposed to the benefits and purpose of these tools in a professional manner. Furthermore, not all students have the exposure to technology tools at home. In fact, for some of my students, school may be the only opportunity for exposure to technology tools. In order to properly prepare my students for future educational paths and careers, I need to expose them to experiences that will enhance their critical thinking and problem solving skills. These materials will provide the avenue by which my students can create, explore, and engage in the world around them.
