Chromebooks will enable my students to take advantage of computer based instructional activities and assessments that are customized responsively to each of their individual needs. By using digital programs my students will have the added advantage of becoming technologically literate which will give them increased ownership of their inquiry based and skill-based learning.
Parents and caregivers will be invited and encouraged to track and celebrate their children's growth and progress as well as encourage them to extend their learning beyond the limited hours of their classroom time. With academic access that extends beyond the school community, my students will be able to thrive and grow academically despite their cognitive disabilities and special needs.
During learning centers, my students have used excellent programs such as I-Ready for reading, Think Central for math as well as PBS and Google for Social Studies and Science. My students have shown profound growth and joy each time our class had computer access during lessons. If we had classroom-based Chromebooks, we could maximize the students' time and flexibility of tech access beyond their allotted 50 minutes per week in the computer lab.
