These materials are essential to the implementation of the Self-A-STEAM & Wellness Space For Girls Workshop Cafe series for K-5th grade girl students in my STEAM class (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). For example, I plan to utilize the juicer machine, blender and prep materials such as the cutting board, knives, and container bowls for our "Tech Cafe." Exposure to STEAM is Key To Girls Learning and Doing: In this STEAM space young girl scholars will have the advantage of engaging food science as they learn about various nutrients fruits and vegetables provide to the body and mind, which ultimately influences academic performance. The goal is to link healthy food choice to productive school and work life. My students will have the opportunity to engage in creative technological activities, while ingesting healthy nutrients from fresh vegetable and fruit juices, and smoothies as a healthy food option all throughout the Self-A-STEAM & Wellness Space For Girls Workshop Cafe series. The layout of this workshop cafe will include four workstations, allowing participants to rotate to each STEAM station to creatively explore, positively engage while they gain empowerment in mastering STEAM. The four workstations will include the follow workstations: 1. The Science of Juicing and Blending 2. Technical Sewing & Design for Tech Girls 3. 3D Design & Printing 4. Self-Care space Workstation number four is design to provide the opportunity to learn what it means to chill and engage reflective practices, such as journaling, peer share dialoging, pampering themselves using nail art, and knitting/crocheting as a form of mediation or relaxing. When You Know Better, You Do Better: Providing Quality and Meaningful Learning Opportunities for Girls. My goal is to encourage dietary wellness in this Technology work space. The girl-focused work space is purposed to inspire creative expression and wellness.
