Students are special human beings who have unique needs that can be met through the use of a variety of resources. I service students who are in grades Kindergarten through grade 8 in the areas of reading and mathematics. Students receive small group instruction during what my school calls "buzz time". It is my job to provide instruction to meet their individual needs. Many of the students I meet with are active and can at times have a difficult time focusing on their work. They often move around on their seats or stand at the table. It is my goal with the use of special seats called Hokki stools, to give students an option to sit and wiggle while they work. This will help their activity level and will contribute to a successful work session. I as a teacher would also appreciate a chance to improve my focus by the use of a ball chair at the tables I work at.
