My sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students will benefit greatly from having new basketballs and badminton birdies. They'll have a more successful time learning the skills with the right equipment. They will be excited about the caliber of materials they'll have access to. I can picture their thrilled faces right now upon seeing the new equipment! It's very impressive to me that the opportunities for physical exertion that a student has in school can be of great benefit to their other academic classes. Many studies have shown that academic performance can be improved or be boosted with increased physical activity. Active bodies, active minds. These materials would enhance the PE program but also help in other areas. The basketballs will also be used by other grade levels during recesses. On numerous occasions, our science teacher has used PE equipment to demonstrate force and motion. Many of the special needs students love to shoot basketballs. The After School Program would definitely benefit as well. It's an overall victory to get this equipment to strengthen our school.
