In our school, we use the Reader's Workshop program for teaching reading. It is wonderful because students learn to pick appropriate books for their level and they are given time to independently read. I have been working on building my library so there are just right books for all students. Also, I am working towards building their reading stamina and encouraging them to get lost in their books. With the addition of flexible seating, students will be more comfortable and less distracted. Therefore, they will be able to read for longer periods of time. Flexible seating will also allow for students to work in small groups together all around the room. This will encourage collaboration and improve their overall learning experience.
