As my students are beginning to learn and explore different areas in math, I have students who have not been exposed to math in their environment. Therefore the interactive math journal will be used as the foundation for them to illustrate what they are learning in math daily. They will be able to draw and write about the learning goal for each day. This will enable them to refer back to their journal to review or remind them about a particular skill or concept like shapes, patterns, clock, adding, subtracting and etc. They will use the daily math journals to refine math skills each day with challenging activities that target important math standards in operations, algebraic thinking, geometry and much more. The students will be engaged in 35 weeks of problems that cover key math standards. They will use these journals in whole group, small group, partner to partner, and in independent practice in the classroom They will also be able to explain their learning to their classmate and parents.
