Piano class is always full and students are often turned away because of lack of space and instruments. In addition to that the keyboards that we have are old, beat up, and some are just plain broken. Students get frustrated when keys don't work, when headphones stop working, and when they have to lean their music against the wall because the music stand is broken. New keyboards would be a good start to lessening student frustration and allowing more students to participate in class at once. Students will be able to simply focus on the music at hand, and not whether their materials are going to work or not. Music class is a safe haven for many of our students. Having working keyboards could be a great help in allowing more students to participate and reap the benefits of music.
