The look and feel of student learning is rapidly changing every year! Our students are expected to use more technology, more collaboration, more creativity, "out of the box" thinking, etc. We are getting updated curriculum and updated teaching expectations all the time. What our students haven't received is an updated environment. The physical surroundings meant to nurture these new learning styles is slow to catch up. I want my students to walk in the first day and be excited to see something fun and different, that is just for them! Our classrooms were offered yoga balls as seating several years ago. This was a great start to help address the idea of "sitting in a chair all day is not the best way to learn". But one size does not fit all. Some students like to stand, some students prefer to stretch out on the floor, and some like a stool. I want my classroom to have the feel that all these learning styles are welcome. The students are here 6 hours a day. They need to be able to move! I have already successfully implemented yoga balls, and carpet squares. I got rid of all of my desks and exchanged them for tables. I envision a room similar to a coffee house, or bookstore. Places where I like to sit and read or work. I think my students should have the same experience. I am 100% committed to this project and am excited for the vision I have the power to create. I just need a little help. I have already bought 4 new rugs, pillows, and crates Will you help us out and meet us the rest of the way?
