Small group instruction has proven to be one of the most effective teaching styles, especially for students with special needs. In my math class, we have centers or small group instruction every day, which gives students more attention from the teacher, the ability to work with their peers, and a chance to engage in math work without the fear of being unsuccessful in front of a big group. My students need organizational and hands-on supplies for small group instruction when they are in our self contained math class. The large whiteboard will allow my paraprofessional and I to be working on different topics in different places around the classroom. The whiteboard markers and small erasers will be for the students to use with their own individual whiteboards. The mailbox shelves will be for each student to grab the supplies they need for the day, depending on which station they are in, and recognize where they need to be that day. The standing desks are for my students who do not benefit from sitting in a chair all day and who are more successful in class when they are able to move around or stretch while learning. These supplies will make our math class run much more smoothly and will allow all of my kids with their own learning differences to access the content and feel successful in the process.
