Stability balls and wobble chairs are used in the classroom to help students control their need for movement. Using stability balls and wobble chairs as chairs allows the students to create movement in a positive manner. The students become more focused and are less likely to cause distractions by being off-task. The movement helps their brains to engage, allowing the students to retain greater amounts of knowledge and create stronger academic output. Both are beneficial to the students' wellness as they develop a stronger, healthier core. Providing students with a tool that promotes a positive classroom environment is key. When students sit on stability balls , both sides of their brains are engaged in keeping their bodies centered on the balls. And when the brain is stimulated, it's more focused on learning. In addition, a study published in the October 2003 issue of the "American Journal of Occupational Therapy" found that students with attention challenges, such as attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD), tended to focus better when using stability balls instead of chairs.
