A learning carpet is essential for elementary-aged students in the classroom. The learning environment encompasses more than just tables and chairs; students need to have the ability to move safely and appropriately in a provided space. Additionally, instruction on the carpet gives students a transition time to move from instruction to learning stations and activities. Group discussions are a great deal more engaging when everyone is together on the carpet. Smaller voices can be heard and validated which helps when creating a learning community within the classroom. Students need fewer reminders to stay on task and are able to participate at high, age-appropriate levels. By adding a learning rug to the classroom space, children are empowered to make appropriate choices in their social, emotional, and spatial growth which promotes a fun and exciting learning environment for everyone!
