My students spent time brainstorming about their ideal classroom environment. All agreed that they wanted the room to reflect their indivual personalities. If they had it their way, some would want the room plastered with Star Wars posters, others would find pictures of kittens and puppies great additions to our word wall. The students had a wide range of wish list items, but our conversation eventually led us to one item. Furniture. I've found that when given choice, my students are more motivated and productive. The bean bag furniture and throw pillows will provide students with a comfortable learning environment where they can get lost in their reading and become avid writers. My students are unique and I need my classroom to cater to the needs of all my learners. Many students will benefit from having a special place in the room to study, or just curl up with a book.
