My students (80 students 6-8th grade) are sitting at pianos for 90 minutes every other day during their group piano class. Currently, they are sitting on hard desk chairs that were not designed for pianos, meaning their posture and playing technique is negatively affected. Most students leave class complaining of neck and shoulder pain due to sitting on these chairs. Having proper piano benches would not only help their playing posture and technique, but would boost their enjoyment of playing the piano! Each student will be able to adjust the height of the bench so they can sit and play in a comfortable position! I will also be able to maximize instructional time since I won't need to give students the frequent breaks to stretch and relax that they have needed.
