I am applying for a set of exercise balls as chairs for my class. I have had a set in my class for the last 6 years. I now have moved to a different state and was not be able to take the set with me as they belong to the school. There are so many wonderful benefits to having the students sit on a yoga ball versus a chair. I have found that the students stay in their seats longer by letting them wiggle a little on the ball. They ask to go to the bathroom only when they really have to go and not because they want to stand up and walk around. This has especially helped students I have had in the past with diagnoses such as ADD and ADHD. The balls build their core strength and helps with their balance. They seem more interested in finishing their work because they are not sitting on a hard surface. The students enjoy “securing” their ball with the plastic discs under their desks. The balls are also easier and safer to put up on their desk at the end of the day.
