Many of my students struggle with social interactions with their peers and regulating their emotions in a typical classroom. Being able to provide materials for my students to practice their academic skills, as well as self-regulation skills by engaging in sensory driven activities is imperative in my classroom. The ability to give my students a space to practice and demonstrate their knowledge to their full ability is important. The majority of my students engaged in distance learning in the 2020-2021 school year, and had limited interactions with their teachers and peers. Having a space and equipment for students to unwind, regulate, and interact appropriately with each other in the classroom is fundamental for students with significant cognitive disabilities to practice life skills.
