Literacy is changing in the 21st century. At our school, we strive to develop student literacy in all areas -- from reading and writing to image, video, and music. Students need to be able to comprehend literature and also dissect media messages. Critical reading and viewing are more important than ever. Students also need the opportunity to create and express ideas using 21st century tools. Through creating and analyzing video, students develop skills that amplify their own voices and enable them to participate in the global community of ideas. My students are full of ideas for movies and videos but don't have enough cameras to capture and share them.

About my class
