A love for reading can be hard to come by in a 4th Grade classroom. It is my goal to acquire class sets of 4th Grade novels to involve students in close reading, analyzing, and connecting, to further their understanding of not only reading skills, but lessons that will help them grow. Participating in a Read Aloud helps students make connections with characters, sympathize with the circumstances of others, and evaluate their own moral compass, all while developing skills in character traits, text structure, main idea, author's purpose, and genres. Students are much more likely to retain a skill they have learned when they have made a meaningful connection to the text.

About my class
