My little scientists love to get their hands dirty and observe living things. They were fascinated by our Madagascar hissing cockroaches. They were so excited to tell me about how their previous teacher had them dissect chicken hearts and worms. When I bring in materials, even plants, they always ask, "Is this real?" I love to tell them yes! This project will expose our urban, Title I students to authentic experiences like dissecting and raising baby chicks. I wish to expose them to as much real-life science learning as I can. Providing the requested worms, fish, and frogs to dissect will teach them about animal adaptations and allow us to compare anatomy of different living things. The chick embryos will fascinate them!
