This year will see the first Academy of the Americas graduates walk the stage. Some will be the first in their families to have had the opportunity to finish school. Some will be the first to attend college, next fall. It is a place of great pride and great potential. My goal is to prepare our students for success, to dare them to dream big, despite systemic challenges of racism, poverty, xenophobia. Detroit needs young adults who feel empowered to fix and heal our neighborhoods and our economy. Please consider lending your support to this effort. Detroit's revival must positively impact all, and solid public education is the starting place.
