My classroom consists of 19 first graders. I have a fantastically diverse group of kiddos that genuinely enjoy coming to school every day. Our school is a title 1 school where the entire population receives free and reduced lunches. Many of my students are academically disadvantaged and have had very little exposure to reading or books prior to coming to kindergarten. Its a big job to get these kids reading on level, but I have found that fun, engaging activities along with a caring environment is a great start. I am seeking donations for my classroom because I feel it is beneficial to expose my students to a variety of early literacy resources. With the right resources and the right attitude we will make great readers!
