Most of my students lost not only their homes and belongings in the recent Louisiana flooding but they also lost their classroom. These materials, books, and resources are one step closer to rebuilding what I have collected over 11 years of teaching. We are currently displaced from our school and my hope is that when my students finally get back to our school, that our classroom will be just as beautiful and better than it was when they first saw it a month ago. My goal is to give these kids some normalcy and the best education they can get. I want them to always remember 3rd grade, not for the flood, but for the amazing resources we had. I have mainly asked for books to rebuild our classroom library. I have asked for some of their favorite titles along with some science based readers as well. My classroom is station based so I have asked for supplies that they need in order to do stations such as clipboards, writing pens, red pens for checking, and a cart in order for them to access the materials they need and have places to keep their papers. I have asked for multiplication boards to use in the math fluency station to help learn their facts. I have also included a pencil sharpener because we use a LOT of pencils. There are also a few other materials for our science class to help plan experiments and a balance scale which we used a lot in math and science.
