My students will use these materials in our centers in order to help enhance their experiences, knowledge and interests, as well as develop critical thinking with each other. It will give them an opportunity to have a safe, yet fun environment to develop and practice problem-solving skills, address social/emotional, intellectual and physical needs of the whole child. The students will have the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of communities, living things, and changes all around us. Young children learn best through play and I would love to create a more enriched, hands-on, authentic environment for them to develop a love for learning . The microscope, magnifiers, and slides I have requested will help students explore items in science first hand, as well as observe changes in fruits, vegetables, and objects in our world. The students will become little scientists ready to explore the world around them. The items such as the grocery store food and pet vet shop center will fill our social studies center with hands-on materials so the children can learn about jobs in our world, cooperative learning and responsibility in a community. This project will improve my classroom engagement because it will give me the tools needed to make our learning environment fun, safe and creative for all learners. The food items and vet clinic items will allow my Kindergarteners to be creative in our social studies center when they learn about community helpers and create a grocery store to buy and sell items like Mom and Dad. The numerous science materials will be very helpful for the children to see and experiment things first hand throughout the school year.
