My first grade students can use the reading tubes to practice daily reading. My students come from low income families and not all of them are read to each day...which breaks my heart! Students should love to read and part of my job is to instill in them the love of reading and learning. By using these tubes they can hear themselves read and improve throughout the year. My students would also love to practice reading on the "couches". I try to create a welcoming and comfortable environment in my classroom, and I want students to feel "at home". The addition of this furniture would create a wonderful reading space in my classroom. My students would also benefit from the use of the document camera. Not only would I use it during instruction, but the students could use it as well when learning how to present material to their peers.
