We are an Arizona school in transition. Our student population is diverse with a low social economic situation. Twenty-one new teachers and a new adminstration were hired last year. Our school has a history of academic failure. Our students do not understand why they should value learning or how learning could impact their future lives. We have made great progress in one year. Our school passed AIP for the first time in 3 years. We are now working on developing a culture in which acceptance of all is a school-wide goal. Our school has a great deal of diversity and a high Special Education population, which is fully included in the school day. We are trying to develop a culture of respect, responsibility and caring with our students. Our students can experience success,practice responsibility, and demonstrate caring through the sport of soccer in PE class.
