My 8th grade science lab has wonderful access to water, as all lab rooms should. But with cold water only, my students are lacking in the ability to truly "wash" hands to prepare for lab or clean up after a lab. For clean labware, I am ever heating water, using a hot plate, to give myself some warm water to wash the equipment. In light of our current Covid-19 situation, hand washing and the cleanliness of shared equipment is paramount to students receiving a quality lab experience in 8th-grade science.
