If this project is funded, it will allow students to participate in forensics and biotechnology techniques that effect our daily lives like genetic modification, crime scene analysis . Specifically, students will learn how DNA is analyzed in genetics labs and get an opportunity to analyze DNA themselves. These are techniques that are usually not taught until college! Students will also understand how many foods found in the grocery stores are modified to have desirable traits. The materials being requested are the basic materials needed for DNA analysis. These materials are the remaining materials needed for the already funded "DNA Detectives" DonorsChoose Project. Specifically, I am requesting pipettes and pipette tips, needed chemicals, and a power supply for the machinery we have already received.
