Our work space is small, but our desire to problem solve and think is bigger! My students have the privilege of sitting with each other at tables which creates greater collaborative learning opportunities, but the space we have to store our materials and have access to them is a daily challenge. These materials we need will allow us to be successful everyday! The students store white crates under their chair to hold all their folders, binders, notebooks, materials, - EVERYTHING - but they are full. Our tables get cluttered because we need more storage. The chair pocket (Seat Sacks), will allow the students to keep their data and take-home binders, the clipboards I'm also requesting, their novels, and immediate assignments right at their seat. If we need to transition with our learning but must come back to the activity later, we could immediately put the work in these chair pockets instead of getting up from our seat and keeping these materials in our white crate "cubbies" which are away from our seat stations. We loose a lot of time because of our small space. We need a pencil sharpener for our room! Simple as that! We write a lot. The karaoke machine is for the students to collaborate and be student leaders. My classroom is student lead! Speaking skills are extremely important at this development stage and this is a fun way to encourage the children to "Give us Five" and share their thinking and be a leader! I am ALSO A CHOIR TEACHER! The clipboards, seat covers, pencil sharpener, and karaoke machine will be used by all my choral students too!
