This project will allow more students to have hands-on musical learning. Currently, we have two music rooms with only enough Orff Instrumentss (xylophones and metallophones) for one room. With additional instruments, students will gain and experience the joy and fundamentals of music learning while creating and performing together. Music in my classroom is meant to be a joyful experience, motivating students to higher levels of performance and accomplishment. With the additional instruments, more students can be engaged and exploring music on their own and within an ensemble. Science has shown musical instruction to engage students in higher-order thinking and be beneficial in many ways. The ability to play and keep a steady beat is linked to reading and comprehension while math skills are emphasized in the ability to ready music. This project will allow many students the benefits of making music together - a joyful experience, while learning concrete music and listening skills.
